2nd round of funding through FedDev

Over recent months, I have met with so many businesses and organizations that have received support through FedDev Ontario funded projects. I have heard directly from many of you on the impact that these investments are having and the issues that remain top of mind for local community and business leaders and workers.

Our Government is focused on investing in people, so they can realize their potential and create new possibilities.

That is why I am pleased to share with you today that FedDev Ontario is launching its second application intake for funding, geared towards helping businesses and the communities and organizations that support them. Our investments and funding programs aim to grow our economy, create good jobs and make life more affordable in southern Ontario.

The intake period is open from April 29, 2024 to June 24, 2024. We are accepting applications at any time during this period.

We have refined our funding priorities slightly to focus on projects that:
Clean economic growth – projects that support the greening of the economy, that can contribute to emissions reductions, and that create sustainable and green jobs
Growth companies – projects that accelerate business development and growth
Technology – projects in cutting-edge sectors (e.g., artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, medical technologies, digital health, and agri-tech)
Industrial transition - projects that support change in traditional sectors to adopt new technologies and other innovations to improve their competitiveness and build new opportunities (e.g., the adoption of automation in manufacturing to increase efficiency and productivity)

Priority may be given to projects supporting the transition to zero-emission vehicles and housing manufacturing innovation.

Inclusive growth across all regions remains central to our investment principles. We're committed to supporting projects that create opportunities for underrepresented groups, and promote growth across diverse communities from rural and small towns to large urban centres.

This new intake period is another step towards building a more inclusive economy that works for everyone. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to driving economic development in our region. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.

Warm regards,
The Honourable Filomena Tassi, P.C., M.P.
