Position Summary / Responsibilities
Are you a creative student with a passion for digital marketing, community engagement, and small business promotion? This could be the perfect summer opportunity for you!
We’re looking for a motivated and creative student (studying marketing, communications, media, public relations, or a related field—or heading into post-secondary) who’s excited to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and community-focused environment.
In this role, you’ll help bring local businesses to life through engaging content, creative campaigns, and meaningful storytelling. You’ll play an important role in promoting Chamber members, supporting recruitment efforts, and building our online presence.
 
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Creating and scheduling engaging business spotlights for Chamber members
Connecting with local businesses to gather photos, stories, and promotions
Maintaining a content calendar for marketing campaigns and features
Designing graphics, videos, and reels to showcase local businesses
Supporting marketing campaigns and local initiatives
Assisting with efforts to attract new Chamber members
Creating content that highlights Chamber benefits, events, and advocacy work
Helping develop email campaigns and outreach materials
Updating promotional tools like brochures and flyers
Creating content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Keeping up with trends and adapting ideas for our local audience
Assisting with branded templates for recurring content (Member Spotlights, Events, etc.)
 
Position Overview
This role is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience in marketing and communications while working directly with local businesses and community partners. You’ll build practical skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and see the impact of your work firsthand.

Education / Skills / Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or entering post-secondary education in marketing, communications, media, public relations, or a related field
(High school students entering post-secondary are encouraged to apply!)
Strong written and visual communication skills
Creative, organized, and self-motivated
Interest in digital marketing and storytelling
 
Asset (Preferred) Qualifications:
Familiarity with tools like Canva, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, or similar platforms
Experience creating social media content or graphics
 
Core Competencies:
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and people skills
Good time management and organization
Creative thinking and problem-solving
Basic computer skills
 
Compensation
$17.60 based on a 35-hour work week. Some flexibility may be required, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Fridays will be work from home day, this will be to work on content and other tasks.
